Philosophy
Under the aegis of
the University of Athens and the direction of the
“Biophysical Environment: Neuroscience and Learning”
laboratory and the scientific responsibility of the
post-graduate direction: “Sociobiology, Neuroscience and
Education” a post-graduate level summer school with a
different thematical area every time has been functioning in
August for the past two years in Delphi. This year the third
Summer School is going to take place coinciding eith the
celebration of the 170 years of the University of Athens.
Within the scope of
this annual academic activity and in order to tie in with
the turning of the global community to the Hellenic cosmic
theory and to the entirety of values that it has cultivated
we dedicate the thematology of the third Summer School to
the universality of Hellenic cosmic theory as a contribution
to the efforts of the global community…
“… to derive from
the depths of its long-standing self not only the solution
to the most urgent problems of vital importance, regardless
of any typical historical imitativeness, but above all to
give to the solution of these problems the universal, the
most enlightened, the clearest figure” (Aggelos Sikelianos,
Prose Works B’)

Thematology
The thematic areas
of the lectures aim at demonstrating the fact that the
Hellenic Civilisation and specifically the Hellenic system
of values contain the answers to the fundamental
questions/challenges of our times and give solutions to the
problems of the age we live in. On this basis, the following
thematic fields have been chosen:
-
Society -
Economy
-
Policy
(national and international)
-
Education -
Civilization
-
Bioethics -
Environmnet
-
Science -
Scientific
Deontology
The lectures will give
answers to the questions/challenges of our times connected to
the thematic fields named above and will suggest solutions to
the contemporary problems of humanity:
-
State of law,
continuous development and deontology of “well-enterprising”
-
The global population is getting poorer, while at the same
time a very small percentage of it is becoming richer and
richer, reducing many others to utter poverty.
-
Phenomena of modern types of slavery, not comparable to the
older ones. Hideous types of violence and social exclusion.
-
Modern politics is incapable of giving solutions to the
problems of people and societies, while simultaneously it
falsifies every condition and limit of human civilization in
order to serve even illegitimate interests. But how should a
politician think and act? What is the true nature and the
aim of politics?
-
Nowadays the questions of bioethics as well as the
non-invertible ecological destruction of the planet are
urgent.
-
Phenomena of neo-medievalism in the fields of scientific
research.
-
Scientific deontology cannot follow scientific discovery,
but they should go along together, so that they can protect
life and the values of nature. Scientific “worth of being” (axion
esti) concerns scientific research.
All the matters mentioned above cause the dive necessity of
“well-enterprising” under conditions beneficial to the society.
Hellenism, its system of values and cosmic theory can and must
at last give answers to the pointed questions and solutions to
the problems of humanity.

"POLIS" award
During the summer school the resuscitation of the Delphic Ideal
will be proclaimed. As part of the ceremony, enacted award
“Polis” will be bestowed for the first time to Alexandria of
Egypt, as decided. Alexandria is awarded not only because it is
the city established by the civilizer Alexander the Great. It
has not only contributed to Hellenism in hard times. It is a
city of an entity, for which the title of the “library of
humanity” is very accurate and which combines natural beauty
with the comprehensiveness of the Mediterranean: Light. Beauty,
Reason (Logos).
